“If you want to be here tomorrow, you better have a China strategy today.”
Perrin Beatty, president, CED, Canada Chamber of Commerce
John Li grew up in mainland China. He obtained his MBA, and worked for nearly 20 years at China National Cereals, Oils, and Foodstuffs Corporation—one of the largest foodstuff corporations in the world. After immigrating to PEI, John noticed enormous complementary economies between China and Canada. He is aware that China is adjusting its economy to complement a foreign oriented economy, and believes this will bring great opportunities for trade, investment, and cooperation between the two countries.
After joining the PEI Connectors Program in late 2011, John was put into contact with key local business contacts and government professionals, and established good relationships. In 2012, he set up Golden Bridge Marketing and Consulting. John held a marketing seminar to an audience of local enterprises, associations, and related government departments on understanding China and spoke about how to acknowledge and overcome the cultural and customs differences between the two countries He also completed the 2013 PEI Food Export Strategy Report. John’s company is making the most of the existing Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) network channels to help enterprises and associations learn about the Chinese market. John is promoting the unique core values of PEI products in an innovative way to establish a workable market strategy.
